While experiencing some anxiety is normal, when your worry becomes a persistent, overwhelming fear that may interfere with your daily life, then it’s time to consider seeking help. Here at Arcara we have three psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) who are licensed to treat anxiety. During our first appointment, we’ll talk with you about your personal and medical history. Anxiety can be triggered by many things including traumatic experiences, other medical conditions, or genetics. Research has shown that anxiety can run in the family. After we have discussed your history, we will make a diagnosis and, as appropriate, provide lifestyle advice. A healthy diet and regular exercise routine is one way of managing anxiety. We’ll also discuss coping strategies, particularly when it comes to handling panic attacks, and relaxation techniques that can help short-circuit obsessive patterns of worry. Finally, we may prescribe medication, depending on your unique situation. If we do, we will thoroughly explain both the risks and benefits of whatever medication we recommend. We’ll monitor your progress through regular follow-up appointments and adjust your medication as needed. If we feel it necessary, we will provide you with a referral to an anxiety specialist. Psychiatric treatment for anxiety is practical and effective. It can transform your life. Call our offices in Boston or Westborough, MA, to schedule an appointment for anxiety treatment and let us help you on your journey to well-being.

We do not have a psychiatrist on-site or a crisis intervention team. Because of this, we are unable to provide care for patients requiring particular types of psychiatric care. We can provide referrals to Boston and surrounding area psychiatric clinics or larger psychiatry offices who offer a comprehensive team.
