Ana attended Salem State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences with a concentration in chemistry. While pursuing this degree, she began her medical career working as a CNA at Lahey Burlington where she fell in love with nursing. Ana proceeded to attend Regis College after gradation to receive her BSN in nursing. While attending Regis College for her MSN in nursing, she started a position in as a registered nurse at a camp in Cape Cod for the summer, where she found her passion in psychiatric medicine. Ana received her MSN in nursing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2018. While practicing as a PMHNP on the North Shore, Ana continued her education to pursue a DNP from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions with her capstone being focused on a mobile health application for self-care reducing burnout in first year PMHNPs. Ana received her DNP in January of 2020 and hopes of teaching in the future.

In her career as a psychiatric mental health, Ana has worked in various setting consisting of seasonal, residential, and outpatient facilities. Ana has worked as a registered nurse at an all girl’s summer camp treating complex mood and anxiety disorders, as well as eating disorders. Ana has also worked in a residential skilled nursing facility treating the geriatric population in complex psychotic, mood, cognitive, and anxiety disorders. Ana has experience treating adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients with complex mood and anxiety disorders, comorbid substance use disorders, dual diagnosis, psychosis and PTSD. She incorporates evidence-based research as well as open communication and trust in her practice. Ana is trilingual in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and shares a passion for global public health which assists her in treating a diverse clientele. She places emphasize on treating the whole person by incorporating a holistic approach to treatment with psychopharmacology. Ana has a passion for education and learning; she remains active in attending national conferences and training programs to continue to develop her expertise and knowledge in the field of psychiatric medicine.

Ana is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner since June of 2018 with 3 years of psychiatric mental health experience.
